Headlights Are Optional- ON Please!

Managing to get an “unofficial” taxi from the airport, Mumbai, India at midnight and disappearing into the backstreets for a couple of hours. A little frightening at the time although I later realized I was in little physical danger.
Then followed a taxi ride from the “backstreets” to my hotel. apparently lights are optional at night, I requested the option of having them ON.
